Q.How is my age on other planets calculated?
Your age on another planet = your Earth age in days ÷ that planet's orbital period in Earth days. For example, Mars has an orbital period of 686.97 Earth days. A 30-year-old on Earth is 30 × 365.25 ÷ 686.97 = approximately 16 Mars years old. All orbital periods are from NASA JPL.
Q.How is the light-year calculation done?
Light travels at 299,792 km/second. Your light-year age = your Earth age in years × 1 light-year. The light from your birth (or conception) has now travelled approximately as many light-years from Earth as your age in years — though it has long since crossed into interstellar space between stars.
Q.What does 'fraction of universe age' mean?
The observable universe is approximately 13.772 billion years old (Planck 2018 measurement ± 0.059 Gyr). Your age as a fraction of the universe = your age in years ÷ 13,772,000,000. A 30-year-old represents approximately 0.000000218% of the universe's age.
Q.Is the Cosmic Age Calculator scientifically accurate?
All calculations are accurate within ±0.1% for casual use. Planetary orbital periods are from NASA JPL Planetary Fact Sheets. The universe age uses the Planck 2018 CMB measurement (13.772 ± 0.059 Gyr). The tool is for educational and perspective purposes.
